The summit of Mt. 5040 (named after it’s height of 5040 ft.) is approximately 1536m above sea level (at it’s summit). The route I prefer is called Cobalt Lake, with a trail 8.4km in length and 933m of elevation gain. It takes approximately 5 hours to complete. It is a true feat of strength and fortitude.
Please see below my father, Stan Lowery, who previous to this hike had never done back country camping nor hiked a mountain overnight. This was my first experience guiding after learning how to mountaineer myself.
Hike took place in August 2023.

My second experience guiding was taking my best friend up the same mountain. Unlike my dad, she struggled greatly with the mental component of the hike and it was a great test of my leadership to help her reach the basecamp.
Hike took place July 2024.
