Positionality
I identify as a gender fluid person who fits under both non-binary and female categorization of gender. I prefer She/They pronouns but do not take offense to any pronouns or just one being used. I also identify as a member of the queer community for my sexuality.
Further, I am a non-status Metis/metis womxn, who also has English and Mediterranean heritage. I do not hold status with any Metis federation but my biological relatives are registered with both the Alberta and British Columbia Metis Federations through both paternal and maternal lines (my father is Metis, my mother is metis).
Understanding this, I am white passing, and do not reside on the lands of my people. Though I am indigenous, I do not claim the lands of the Coast Salish or Nuu-Chah-Nulth for which I have settled. I am an uninvited guest living in so-called Victoria, B.C. Please see the section titled “Land Acknowledgement” for further details.
Legal Assistant (Conveyancer)
I’ve worked in several law firms across Victoria over the past three years, learning firsthand how the law is applied – particularly in the fast-paced world of real estate. With both my Legal Assistant Certificate and professional experience, I developed strong administrative skills, document drafting abilities, and the capacity to manage large volumes of paperwork under tight deadlines.
As the lead Conveyancer at a boutique law office in Sidney, I handled a wide range of transactions including owner-builder sales, estate transfers, foreshore leases, and multi-million-dollar commercial deals. I regularly submitted complex filings to the Land Title Survey Authority (LTSA), including road dedications and covenants. I prioritized professional development by attending industry webinars and networking events hosted by LTSA, Stewart Title, Dye & Durham, and the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC.
Earlier in my legal career, I worked as a receptionist and general office assistant, supporting departments such as litigation, corporate, real estate, accounting, and criminal law. I answered phones, witnessed document signings, and covered staff vacations – gaining broad insight into the day-to-day operations of legal practice.
Wrestling Official
I am a nationally ranked wrestling referee in Olympic Freestyle and Greco-Roman styles. My role has required the ability to make decisions with authority, follow strict procedures, manage teams, and ensure fairness – all under pressure. Wresling is a grappling sport which it’s own sport culture that I am proud of be a part of.
I was recently entrusted to staff, run, and supervise a provincial championship – an unusual responsibility for a referee of my ranking. This opportunity arose in part due to my previous administrative work with the organization, including being elected Executive Secretary of the Officials Organization.
Events Coordinator
In a past role as an Events Coordinator (via a summer grant), I taught physical education classes in elementary schools, promoted and staffed a summer camp, organized fundraisers, and managed teams of volunteers across a variety of community events – including fairs, weddings, celebrations of life, graduations, concerts, bottle drives, drag races, motocross races, and an annual salmon derby.
My responsibilities spanned the full project cycle: obtaining contracts, building schedules, supervising teams, completing hands-on work, and writing post-event reports. As my supervisors were rarely on-site, this position required a high degree of independence and accountability.
Culture & Community Ambassador – Bar & Billiards
Currently, I work at a venue that operates as both an LGBTQIA2S+ inclusive bar and a billiards hall—an environment that has been incredibly rewarding to be part of. I originally took the job because I love playing pool, but the experience has evolved into something much more meaningful. I’ve had the privilege of serving queer couples, community groups like “Dyke Night,” and pool enthusiasts from all walks of life. I strive to create a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone and draw on my Gender Studies background to de-escalate tense moments with professionalism and care. I’m also highly observant, quick to act, and comfortable engaging with people from diverse cultures – having even picked up conversational Spanish and Punjabi from regulars.
